For customers accustomed to IP-based correction services, where correction ages are typically around 1-5 seconds, the 20-30 second correction age commonly seen with PointPerfect L-band delivery may raise concerns.
However, this is normal behavior for the SPARTN SSR correction format and the lower-bandwidth L-band broadcast channel. Unlike traditional RTCM-over-IP services, some SPARTN correction components are transmitted at longer update intervals, resulting in a higher reported correction age without impacting positioning performance. PointPerfect Flex's PPP-RTK technology is specifically designed to operate with these correction ages while maintaining centimeter-level accuracy.
As long as the correction age remains below 60 seconds, the service is functioning as intended. If corrections exceed 60 seconds, the F9 module will automatically fall back to a 3D/DGNSS solution until fresh corrections are received. Therefore, a correction age of approximately 30 seconds is expected for L-band operation and should not be interpreted as degraded correction quality or positioning performance.
