PointPerfect NTRIP client usernames
PointPerfect IP plans provide system generated usernames, with a length of 36 alphanumeric characters to promote security and avoid the possibility of duplication. Some NTRIP clients cannot use such a long username. In these cases, we can adjust your domain to use shorter usernames for your NTRIP client.
If you wish u-blox to enable shorter usernames for your PointPerfect Things, please send a message to services-support@u-blox.com with the following information:
- your Thingstream domain name
- the desired length of your NTRIP client username
- between 6-20 characters
- we recommend for security purposes using the maximum length allowed by your client
Once enabled, your domain will apply this username rule to all Things created after the domain change was applied. We cannot adjust the username length on existing Things, so previously activated PointPerfect Things will continue to use their original username. If you will not use a Thing in your domain, you can deactivate it to stop any billings from it.
If your current PointPerfect Thing uses one of our limited Developer plans, you can ask us to delete it from your account so you can add a new Thing (with the new credentials) for this plan.
PointPerfect NTRIP client passwords
NTRIP Passwords are 10 characters in length and may include special characters that some NTRIP clients have trouble with. You can try using quotes around the password in the command line, or a backslash to escape a character that has special meaning. We also offer the ability in each PointPerfect Thing to regenerate the Thing’s NTRIP password, in case the device credentials are compromised or in this case where a different password is needed. This assigns a new password that may omit the special character your client is having trouble with.
